HTPD is seeking information from passing motorists on Route 30 between the Wrightsville and Columbia exits from last night, May 12 around 9:30pm.On May 12, 2020 around 9:30pm, Hellam Township Police was dispatched to a person struck along Route 30. The incident occurred between the Wrightsville Exit and the Wrights Ferry Bridge.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a pedestrian that was walking along Route 30 in an area not meant for foot traffic and was struck by a passing motorist. The pedestrian was killed in the collision.

The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

If anyone has any additional information, or may even have dash camera footage of the area around the time of the incident, please contact Detective Jason Test or Sgt. Justin Golder, at 717-434-1310.

PA State Rep. Keith GillespieReplacement of the East Prospect Road/Route 124 bridge between Mt. Pisgah Road/Main St. in Yorkana and Blue Stone Road/Barcroft Road in Lower Windsor Township will begin Monday, May 18.

During construction, eastbound East Prospect Road traffic will be detoured north onto Main St. in Yorkana and then south onto Blue Stone Road. Westbound traffic on Route 124 will be required to turn north onto Blue Stone Road and then south onto Main St.

The goal is to have both lanes reopened to traffic on or before, July 1.

Yesterday the Hellam Fire Company took advantage of the nice weather to complete drivers training on Tanker 21. Water was supplied to another piece of apparatus, dumping into a portable pond, and filling from a hydrant. During the training we were dispatched for a smoke investigation along Route 30. Chief 21 arrived on scene with a controlled burn placing the box available. ... See moreSee less
